Regarding maintaining your certification, the mark generally expires after one year.

There are 7 different NOM certification programs. The first one is most applicable to product certification, and it is known as “Recurrent Evaluation of Product Samples”. As the name implies, more than one initial test is required to keep the NOM mark in good standing. After the initial lab results are received and submitted, the resulting NOM mark is generated. AF Holding guides you through this entire process.

After 12 months, a renewal of the NOM is necessary. New product samples are thus submitted for the renewal process ahead of the 12 month expiration date. If the product specifications have not changed, no new technical materials are needed, and testing can be done. After passing testing, the certificate is renewed for one year. To summarize the certification/renewal process, please see below:

  • NOM Certificate Validity: 1 Year

  • Mid-Term Evaluation: 6 Months

  • Renewal of NOM certificate: 12 Months
